This is Texarkana bathtub refinishing. And we wanted to clear up a little bit of confusion about exactly what bathtub refinishing is. Bathtub refinishing goes by many names, and even though it's the same thing, it confuses people because they think they're different processes. Oftentimes we hear a bathtub refinishing referred to as tub glazing or tub resurfacing. And even though this is a perfectly fine way to refer to bathtub refinishing, it creates some confusion because people think there's a difference. TBRI, glazing and tub refinishing are exactly the same thing. And we do all of those. We also can do all kinds of different surfaces as well. There's a lot of confusion we hear about where people think, Oh, you can't do that. The fiberglass though, right? Well, we can. And not only can we refinish fiberglass, we can actually fix crack repairs and salvage a tub that you are going to throw away and save you about 90% over replacement by doing that repair.

And people also call it bathtub painting because we are putting a coating over your existing bathtub. Texarkana Bathtub Refinishing works with all your existing fixtures, whether it's a sink or a tub, or, you know, except for toilets, we do everything else in the bathroom. We use the aliphatic urethane to refinish your bathtubs. It's usually about a two to two and a half hour process. We clean your tub really well. We acid wash it and give it a couple of different chemical baths? We protect the drain. We protect the overflow. We mask off any existing surfaces around it. We applied two coats of an aerospace epoxy and then two coats of an aliphatic acrylic urethane. We fixed any chips or dings that we find in your bathtub. And then we refinish it. One thing we see a lot of is the DIY kits that people use for bathtub paint. And this is really literally just an epoxy bathtub paint that is sold at like a Lowe's or home Depot that people apply right over their tub surface and these can work when applied properly. But what we often find out is that most people do not want to follow some of the rather hazardous steps that are required to get a bathtub ready to resurface. Yeah. There's no miracle way to do it. You have to acid wash your bathtub. There are those wipe on primers that often fail. With 16 years of business now, we've tried everything, and we stick with what works. It's an acid etch on a porcelain tub. It's an acid etch than a a very good primer. And then a top coat. You can't skip a step by wiping on some miracle method of adhesives that doesn't work, that it'll peel in no time. And then the home kits , the DIY bathtub paint they give you, they're missing some crucial chemicals in them because they can't sell it to you on a shelf. They do not last near as long. They can't take the punishment and they do not have the primer step that we have.

Bob:

At Texarkana bathtub refinishing. One of the key differences in the chemicals that we're able to apply in your home versus what many of our competitors use. And certainly, what the DIY kits contain is that our aerospace epoxy primer has a blend of silanes in it. And silanes are chemical bonding agents that are used to help bond chemicals and coatings to smooth surfaces, such as a porcelain or a baked on ceramic tile, because sanding them is not an effective way to gain additional space for the chemicals to bond. So you have to use some kind of silent blend in order to get a bond, not only on the tub, but actually down into your coating so that it becomes a part of your tub.

Ryan:

Yep. What the acid actually does is it opens up the porcelain on a microscopic level and allows our product to bond in with the tub. It literally impregnates into the surface of the, of the tub and grabs it where if you just a home kit, you're just putting it on top and it does not bond. It will peel right off like a latex paint. Texarkana Bathtub Refinishing uses our silane-blended primer to get chemical and mechanical adhesion into those microscopic pores.

And some of the reasons that we found that our customers choose us to do bathtub reglazing for them is simply just to change the color. We see many great bathtubs, good old cast iron bathtubs that are just rock solid from the 1930s and 1940s, when they first discovered how to put some color into bathtubs. And for some reason, pink and baby blue were real popular colors back then. And Hey, those tubs are still in great shape. They're very usable, very functional. But a lot of people don't want a pink or blue tub in their house anymore. So they call us and for a mere fraction of what it would cost to tear that tub out and potentially create plumbing issues by trying to disconnect and reconnect old plumbing. We come in and in one day, turn that into a bright white or a nice Allmand Beth of forum.

Ryan:

Yep. And we do also believe it or not. We carry those colors. There's been a handful of people calling they've changed an old white bathtub to a retro where they want the pink or the blue, the harvest gold, the avocado they, there is actually a calling for that and we can change your, we can refinish your bathtub back to that color if you like. But 90% of the customers we have, they want to go with a white or an almond. We always suggest a white because that's a timeless color. It never goes out of style. Whereas in your pinks, blues, the ones that look like explosion that the cotton CA CA cotton candy factory, those are the things of the past.
